I went to the dentist this afternoon.
My last cleaning was back in September 2003.
Despite the fact that my dentist literally lives inthe building across from my balconies, and the office is around the corner from where we live.
Back in Sept 03 i had two small cavities that he said we could wait on.
Since it took so much for me to work up to making an appointment, I kept putting it off and putting it off, I finally asked my friend Xose Luis to call for me when I was in Frankfurt or Berlin, I forget, and he set up the appointment for today, which was supposed to be a cleaning.
But instead, the dentist filled one of the cavities. i go back on monday for him to fill the other one.
And then I'll get the cleaning and he'll see what new ones I have (I have a feeling that there's at least one more, where a filling I already have has a new cavity under/beside it).
On the plus side, the entire visit to the dentist's office took very little time. I arrived at 5 after 5pm and was out of there with my new filling by 5:25pm. I like this dentist, he has a good "bedside" manner, which makes it all much easier.
Also, the being neighbors thing helps, too. Saturday I saw him and his daughter, who was dressed as a princess as she came home from a party.
The other nice thing is that dental work in Spain is much cheaper than it would've cost me in NYC. The filling was only 45 euros.

Date: 2004-11-16 12:15 am (UTC)For one thing, I'm having to have redone a bunch of the fillings I'd had done in the U.S. and so far the ones my Spanish dentist does, aside from being a fraction of the price, are holding up much better.
Besides, a cleaning in nyc runs me $150. No idea how much a filling would be... (Not to gloat, but the dental cleaning here, which went up since last year, is now 36 euros.)
It's not just politics why I live abroad.
