Something nice

After much cold and rain these past weeks, we're having a lovely "Indian Summer" day: sunny and warm (22º C). I'm on my lunch break from the bookstore, and even though it's probably meaningless for all of you, I just needed to recognize that. It's so easy for things to seem all doom and gloom all the time, especially when the weather matches that sort of mood. But even with all sorts of turmoil and conflict going on, one can still enjoy moments like this, as mundane and un-earthshattering as they may be. And it is good to take a moment away from the pressures (economic, deadline, etc.) to let yourself do so.

I hope all of you find a nice moment like this in your lives--today, and often.

It was so nice to drive to school with the sun shining ahead of me.
On the way back it was even nicer, as the road was empty and I could let myself sing-a-long.

I shall go to the beach for a stroll.

Today, while I was driving the Plague to preschool, it was all cloudy except for one beam of light that fell right on a patch of trees that had not yet lost their golden leaves. For a moment, there was this bright glow on the hillside, and then the light moved on and it was gone. Gorgeous.
