New York etc.
Jan. 28th, 2008 10:38 amI am in New York again, and my is it cold!
And boy is it sad to be here and not eat any of my favorite gluten-y things.
I've been off gluten since Friday morning, when I had the blood test in Madrid.
I'm still occasionally breaking out in hives after eating (in the late evening, mostly), but have lost many of the other symptoms and am feeling much better (just grumpy: no Entemann's crumb donuts, no pepperidge farm oatmeal raisin cookies, no bagels, no etc.)
I stocked up while out on Long Island with my parents on rice cakes, both flavored and plain. So at least I won't starve.
Also got lots of other edible things to bring with me for when I'm stuck in the bookfair at the AWP (The Associated Writing Program) Conference in a few days: raisins, almonds, South Beach diet high protein bars, etc.
Blood test results when I get back to Madrid in two weeks. But on a simple day-by-day test I'm feeling much better, so will try and stick with this for a while.
Meanwhile, if anyone has an extra copy of yesterday's NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW they can save for me, much appreciated.
