6PM Second Tuesdays presents FIRST PERSON QUEER: Who We Are, Where We've Come From, Where We're Going
Edited by Richard Labonté and Lawrence Schimel. Hosted by Authors Lawrence Schimel and Karen Taylor. $10. RECEPTION 6:00PM, PROGRAM 7PM. This is unique collection of first person essays from across the spectrum of queer experience that depicts the diversity, the complexity, and the excitement of contemporary LGBT life. Readers will be surprised by the intensely personal experiences from writers of diverse genders, ages, races, and orientations, informing us about unusual aspects of our lives. Authors address queer codes, nonconformity, gender deviance, assimilation, having to "pass" as well as sissyhood, parenting skills, sexual experiences (play or work), urban pleasures, personal choices. In honor of the Center 25th Anniversary, our Cultural Programs department will produce an array of programs and events that reflect the diversity of our community. Second Tuesday's generally meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. This is a special date and program.
