Dec. 10th, 2007 04:52 pmYesterday,
mount_oregano came over and schlepped away a suitcase full of writing-related magazines, to give away at the holiday party of the Madrid Writer's Group. She also brought me her copy of the LOCUS with the photo of Isma and me. (Thanks, Sue!)
I've had a bundle of mail forwarded to me from the US, including two reviews of recent books of mine:
There's a positive review of FAIRY TALES FOR WRITERS by David Kopaska-Merkel in the Sept/Oct issue of STAR*LINE
There's also a positive review of the MAMMOTH BOOK OF NEW GAY EROTICA in the November issue of A&U, a magazine devoted to AIDS and art. I was somewhat surprised by their choices of what stories to highlight. They mention William Mann's novella, which makes perfect sense since it is about a serodiscordant couple and ACT-UP and etc. They also mention
scottynola's story, which is a great story, but not necessarily relevant to their own focus, especially compared to tales like David May's punk poz love story "Two Hearts," which they don't mention. I'm not complaining, I just find it curious. (Although perhaps not unsurprising since EVERY woman who has read the book and commented in public about it--in a review, online--always singles out "Unsent".)
