Here's a photo Ellen Datlow took of me (on the right) with Tachyon publisher Jacob Weisman.

I am wearing a new cashmere sweater my grandmother gave me when I visited her just before the conference, but seeing it from the remove of a phtoograph I don't quite think it's a good color for me. Still, it's hard to turn down a cashmere sweater, especially with Madrid being still so cold! (And she gave me four.)

(The conference hotel was actually kept at temps that were far too cold for my comfort.)

Aw nice pic! But yes, not your best colour. You look good in black, and probably red? But whee! FOUR cashmere jumpers? Wow.

One of them is a dreadful canary yellow.

Which I took because it has a large spot on the back, so I figure it´ll be an around-the-house sweater anyway... it was just too soft to turn down!

You cant judge colour by photographs.

You'd look good in a burlap sack, you. :P

Hmm...

Or even better without the burlap... ;-)

Wow, I completely disagree. I think the colour works really well for you. Someone with paler skin would look terrible, but you look great.

Hmmm...

I have learned not to trus tmyself with colours.

That's what´s so useful of having an artist like Sara around, especially when I need to go shopping! I often ask her to vet anything I want to get before purchasing...

Although since these were free, and so soft that even if the colours didn't suit I wasn't about to say no...

what you need to do

is crop that pic and make it your icon. You look positively yummy in it.

Waving hello as I try to get back to blogging after a month of hiding.

Thanks!

Actually, you've reminded me that I meant to make a new icon (with a different image)...

Welcome back!

Actually, I thought the sweater looked good. Photographs aren't necessarily the best arbiters in terms of color. They capture "true" light, whereas our brains process things differently. For instance, under flourescent lights in reality, everything has a green tinge, but our brains process "normal" colors. Artificial lighting is notorious for causing photos that don't look as good as experience/memory.

I think you look quite handsome, and the sweater color looks fine to me.
