I use a mac (a little ibookG4) and I find I really need to input my addresslists into some sort of database that will allow me to give multiple tags to different addresses so I can pull up those entries according to the tags.

I am not very Excel proficient, and I don't necessarily find it very intuitive.

Is there something else mac-compatible that I should consider?

Thanks in advance for any geek-ish assistance!

I've been using Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org) instead of the Microsoft Suite for personal projects for about a year and it's going pretty well.

If you mean email addresses rather than snail mail, MailTags may have the functionality you want. It requires OS 10.4.

my mac comes with an address book app. [Version 4.0.4 (485.1)]. it's super easy to use and you can divide all your contacts into groups.

Another option would be downloading the Palm Desktop software

http://www.palm.com/us/software/desktop/mac.html

It's usually used to keep your address and dateook info on your Mac and allow you to upload it to a Palm device, but you can just use the software without the Palm.

They still have versions that work on older Macs and you can flag your contacts into categories which you can define.
