Reading

I have read 35 books so far this month.

I think it's too cold, overcast, wet, glum, etc. this winter.

Or maybe it's just me.

{shrug}

I have also started and abandoned after a few chapters 5 books so far this year. I may finish one of them, evetually (especially if I run out of other things I want to read). I used to be unable to abandon a book, but I think it's a vrtue that I'm learning to give up on something that's just not engaging me; sometimes I'll try again when I'm in a different mood, but some are just not worth slogging through.

The most curious coincidence so far has been two totally disparate books that involve people who work or intern at zoos. (I went to zookeeper camp at the Bronx Zoo one summer as a child, which I still remember. My mother was also working at the Bronx Zoo when I was born, but obviously I don't remember that far back, although I've heard the stories about the albino python names Bubbles...)

Exactly how many words per minute can you read :o) Even knowing it's your profession and all, I stand in awe!

It's not so much how fast I read, I don't think, as the fact that I have a lot of reading endurance and can read for long uninterrupted stretches.

I used to think I read about a page a minute (for a typical mass market paperback) but lately I think I'm reading three pages everu 2 minutes.

It depends, of course, on the kind of book I'm reading, but... that seems to be what I'm averaging lately.

Wow, that's more books than I read all last year. While I have plenty I'd like to read, I just haven't gotten around to them.

I can do a book or two a day if I have the time. I don't usually have the time, sadly. I'm trying for a book a week this year, and I'm already working on numbers 8, 9, & 10.
