Yesterday I got a package I wasn't suspecting. I opened it, only to discover that inside it was addressed to my upstairs neighbor.
So I trooped upstairs and rang the bell, and it turned out he'd gotten the same package save that the inside was addressed to me.
Unfortunately, he showed no indication of intending to bring it down to me. (While they were identical inside, he had no idea that I'd also received one--and in this case his--by mistake.)
Sigh.
At the same time, this morning, one of the neighbors on my floor rang my doorbell. It seems her boyfriend took in the laundry that had been on the line, including some towels that didn't belong to them, so she was trying to track down who they belonged to. They weren't mine, but I do have my faith in neighborliness a bit restored now.
