I think it's the first time I've done this but it seems a fairly typical mistake for me to make.

When giving people the address of the restaurant we were meeting at tonight, I actually gave everyone the address for a bookstore instead.

It was just one Avenue (the long blocks in New York City) away.

I was just so natural in sending everyone there by mistake, sure I remembered properly where to go.

My mental map of New York used to be to locate things in relation to what bookstore(s) said location was nearest to.

But I'm losing all my landmarks!

These days, there are hardly any left!

When I first moved intothe city, there was a bookstore within one block in all four directions from my house, and a second within two.

All of them are gone now.
