Have you seen my brain?
Jun. 8th, 2007 08:40 amOK, so now, at 14:32, after not having slept last night while on the red-eye, and given the time difference and everything, I at least have an excuse for being fuzzy-headed.
But... sheesh! The end of my trip was just ridiculous in terms of my scatter-brained-ness.
So many things I forgot: forgot to buy to bring back, bought and forgot to pack, or just plain forgot.
The most pathetic is... Y'all know ho wmany books I've bought or gotten for free on this trip.
Guess who forgot to pack a book to read and had to buy one (Donna Leon's THROUGH A GLASS, DARKLY) at the airport?
And I had bought some peanut butter to schlepp back with me, and it's still in the ktichen in NYC. Oops!
And I totally forgot that I had meant to buy some things, like jelly belly sours (both Isma and I love them) and some alcohol-free echinacea for Sara. Oopsie redux!
The flight went by in a blur, but it seemed really quick, despite our having delays in setting out, and we actually landed late as well. Didn't notice.
I also didn't read much--too groggy--but instead got lost in a sudoku zone. At BEA,
rosefox and I wandered past the booth of a Japanese puzzle publisher, who gave us each a book of puzzles (Kakuro for Rose, and really hard sudokus for me). I'd asked for a challenge, and for the first time, it really is a challenge. I don't know what the book is called because the text is all in Japanese, but lots of them (even in the beginning) I didn't even finish (OK, so I was a bit overtired, too!) but I did do many of them, and it was nice to have something to actually wrestle with.
Anyway, I'm going to take a siesta now, and then I have a massage scheduled for 7.15 when I wake up.
It's nice to be home!
