Jul. 27th, 2006 02:01 pmI saw my dentist this morning and he replaced the filling (at no charge, even though the prior filling was nearly two years old, I love my dentist!).
I am so glad it fell out now instead of next week when he joins the wife and kids on Ibiza for the rest of the summer.
Last night, I finished reading Lisa Tuttle's THE MYSTERIES, about people disappearing into Faerieland. Lovely writing, and I like how she kept the fae details to a minimum, so you're always looking for it out of the corner of your eyes. I wasn't so crazy about the stories about other disappearances (and/or reappearances) which were somewhat heavy-handed. I'd have liked these to have been better integrated through a frame of some sort--the characters reading them while researching the current mystery, or something. Or at least putting them in a different typeface to differentiate them from the main storyline. But these are quibbles more than anything else. The plot was nothing especially new, but it is very well-written (on a sentence by sentence level) and the characters well-drawn. I also like thats he doesn't try to explain or justify faerieland.
I'm now going to read Tuttle's THE SILVER BOUGH.
