Feb. 6th, 2006 01:03 amAdmittedly, the past few days have been markedly warmer as well as sunny. But I do think it's premature for so many locales in Chueca and environs to have brought out the terrazas already!
Of course, when I went to Lateral this afternoon for a drink with some friends, 6 of the 8 outdoor tables were full, even if those patrons still wore their coats. (We sat inside.)
Yesterday I went with my friend Jesus to the final night of the Caja Madrid Flamenco Festival at the Albeniz theater. I didn't at all like the first performer (extremely arrogant, and with nothing much to be so full of herself about) but did like the second (named "Arcangel", although it was a bit intense so many soleares all in a row with not any breaks; as Jesus pointed out to me, a bit of variety with other forms would've let us, the audience, have a bit of an emotional break, but at least he sang them well!). The final singer, Mayte MartÃn, evidently had a bit of a cold (she said) but nonetheless had quite a lot of voice for such a small woman. She was good, but didn't move me as much as the middle singer (and not just because he was a boy!).
Today I managed to finish a draft of the third of the new kidzbooks Sara and I need to deliver this month. A bit of structural awkwardness, but hopefully we'll be able to iron those out and send to the editor tomorrow morning, for approval, so Sara can get to work on the art!
