Nov. 17th, 2005 03:31 amI started to lose my voice tonight.
Under other circumstances, this might not be such good news but for me this signifies the final stage of the normal progression for one of my sore throats, as it drops down into the chest. This usually happens after only 1-3 days of sore throat, and not nearly 7 as this recent bout has lasted. The good news is that while I may sound worse, I feel much better. (And actually, once the cold settles in the chest, as opposed to its current adolescent-voice-cracking transitional stage that leaves me rather aphonic, I think it makes my voice sound quite sexy.)
Yesterday, I bought some honey with propolis that tastes horrible but seems to be quite effective in boosting the immune system. I started feeling better last night immediately on tring some in my throat coat tea. And today I woke up less congested.
Tonight was the monthly social of the Spain SCBWI, which pulled in a bunch of new people, which always makes things interesting (although I have to give them the same spiel that the old-time members are sick of hearing, pitching the organization and encouraging them to join). But it's always nice when there's a good group of people, and with new experience/gossip to share. Tonight we were nine in all, which is up from the last few meetings, so it looks like the change in venue from the bookstore to a café (allowing for a later after-work meeting time, since the bookstore closed early) has been a good one. Almost all illustrators, although a mix of Spaniards and English-speaking ex-pats.
