Half and half
Jun. 25th, 2005 04:00 amTonight I had two encounters with boys who, in one case, had read me but didn't know my name, and in the other knew who I was but hadn't read me.
The first was an encounter online. Boy starts chatting with me. He doesn't recall my name, or the name of the book, but he knows he's read a book of mine (he can't find it offhand) and starts recounting the plots of stories to prove this.
The second was when I went out for drinks tonight with two Dutch boys. The former (Spanish) roommate of one of them came by with two friends, and one of them knew who I was (to the point of being able to pronounce my surname) and what I'd published (the gay stuff, at any rate) but had never read anything by me.
A somewhat curious/strange evening, overall.
And now the dilema: should my ego feel half-full, or half-empty?
;-)
