Early mornings
Jan. 13th, 2005 01:27 amI think the problem with getting up early is that I wind up too tired later on to unwind by reading... Or maybe it's the not-having-read-inthree-days that makes me feel so tired?
Maybe I'm just a bit busy right now, too. Deadlines: feh!
I got up around 10 this morning, and managed to translate a handful of poems from Spanish into English, and the second half of the picture book from English into Spanish. (But all while sitting in Cafes, I really need to spend some time sitting in front of the computer and type things up.)
Plus ran all sorts of errands, and managed to vacuum the living room a bit, since my friend Xose Luis is showing up tomorrow morning--alas, bright and early at 8:30am when the train from Galicia gets in to Madrid; gah!--and will be crashing with me for a night or few.
Had an interesting lunch talking about both English and Spanish gay poetry with a Spaniard who lived in Boston when he was getting his MBA; I think he actually came to two Outwrite conferences that I was also out, including the one that I co-programmed with Cecilia Tan.
(One of the reasons I left the country was to never agree to run another convention. Although I forgot, and did get suckered into running the International SCBWI conference in Madrid two years ago...)
Tomorrow is going to be full of coffees with writers: at 1pm, 5:30pm, and 7:30pm. Not to mention breakfast with Xose Luis when he shows up bright and early. Maybe it's time for me to go crash... :-)
