Vacation

I've just done something quite unlike me, namely buy a plane ticket for non-work-related travel.

I think this is a very good thing.

I was talkign to my friend Bernd last night, and was quite lucky to do so, as it turns out, because he was supposed tobe in Caracas this weekend, but left his passport home on Friday and thus missed his flight. He'll be leaving tomorrow, instead.

Anyway, we were just chatting, and it turns out that I haven't been to Berlin (where we met) since 1997! I had thought I'd been more recently than that, but, no, time is marching on, and etc.

And he invited me to come take over his guest room for up to three weeks in August. So that's what I'm going to do. Aug 5-24.

Now, I probably _will_ wind up doing a wee little bit of business, since the graphic novel is about to come out in German, and my editor is in Berlin, and some other editors of mine are in Berlin, so I may as well say hello.

But the purpose of the trip, unlike almost all of my travel over the [indeterminate length of time] is not primarily business-related, for a convention, book fair, talk, etc.

I hope I figure out how to relax enough to enjoy it!
