I found my socks!
Jun. 24th, 2004 02:38 pmIt's one thing to have a pair or two of unmatched socks when doing laundry, but I knew something was going on when I wound up with ninepairs of unmatched socks last week when I did laundry.
But now, pulling in a load of laundry that Jonathan had hung on the communal lines in the courtyard, I looked down--and there were my socks!
When i'd hung the laundry out to dry last week, one set of cords had already been taken, and I had so much laundry that I filled the other 4 cords on my floor and still had a bunch of socks leftover to dry. And since the cords down on the 2nd floor were empty, I went down and hung my socks there, and promptly forgot that id' done so, so the next day when I picked up my laundry I'd not brought in those socks that were dangling there, down a level, forlornly waiting for over a week to be taken in...
Anyway, it's a relief to know that my washing machine hasn't suddenly developed a ravenous appetite for socks after all!
