Yesterday I got a copy of the new issue of ROMANTIC'S QUARTERLY, containing my poem "Rondeau Redouble: Atlantis."

The only bit of interesting mail awaiting me when I arrived last week was a contrib copy of the anthology SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT, of gay and lesbian horror stories, which contains my YA Christmas tale "The Abdominal Snowman" starring a boy with a gay dad who has a live in boyfriend...

Drats! Have just heard that the free gay fortnightly Spanish magazine SHANGAY has an interview with me (about VACATION IN IBIZA), and I'm not even in Madrid for people to recognize me on the street and so on.

(I knew there would be an interview, since I answered the questions, I just didn't know when it would appear.)

And it'd a decent (provocative) photo of me, reclining on a bed in jeans but with shirt off... and by the time I get back I/it will be forgotten!

;-)

Yesterday I managed to buy a handful of books. I don't think I'll be able to find/make time to read much until I get back to Spain, but I'll hopefully keep finding things to read eventually.

I bought a copy of Dorothy Dunnett's DOLLY AND THE STARRY BIRD (also published as MURDER IN FOCUS). I'd read two earlier Dolly mysteries and liked them.

I also picked up a copy of M.E. Kerr's SNAKES DON'T MISS THEIR MOTHERS and Lawrence Block's HIT LIST featuring series character Keller (Has anyone read these? They seem like a darker version of the Bernie Rhodenbarrs.)

I also bought a copy of McCaffrey's BLACK HORSES FOR THE KING for Sara.

Has anyone read the SF romance anthology IRRESISTABLE FORCES yet, with the Lois McMaster Bujold piece about Miles' wedding? I've not yet seen a copy, but it's one of the things on my list to track down...

OK, today I am somewhat charleyhorsed, especially when I go outside and my muscles tense because it's so COLD!

Had coffee with a writer today and it turns out she has a Live Journal! Suddenly, my offline life is overlapping often with my LJ... :-) (Waves to [livejournal.com profile] catnyp)

I'm finding that days in NYC are more exhausting and less productive than days in Europe. I don't understand it, because I think I even manage to socialize more in Madrid, and I certainly find time to read more...

But got a call from some editors in Madrid this morning, wanting me to rush some of those translations I've got sititng on my desk. Have manged to do the gems and minerals ones, and just won't finish the gardening ones on time... Basically I lose a day, given the time difference, and the fact that they leave early on Fridays, they'll be out of the office for the weekend by the time I get up. So they'll have it all on Monday and will just have to lump it. (I did turn around the new, extra file they emailed me this afternoon within ten minutes of getting it, so I don't feel guilty at all.)
